Marcus Boeltz is an in-demand drummer in studios and on stages and has worked with many different artists worldwide. The self-proclaimed „blue collar working drummer“ was formally educated in Funk, Rock, Jazz/Fusion and Latin drumming at the Los Angeles Music and studied privately with Mike Packer, Dave Beyer and Mark Schulman. But it was the streets where Marcus really paid his dues by auditioning for countless bands in the LA area to escape his „comfortably homeless“ situation right after graduation. „I grilled burgers and cheese steaks for minimum wage to make a surviving and slept on floors in screwed up appartments. I had nothing but my clothes, my drums and a car that Inspector Columbo wouldn´t drive. But I am actually grateful to have been stripped down to the bones at one point in my life.“ Marcus says. „Your whole perspective and attitude changes. When the going gets tough, that´s when you´re really learning and improving.“

The situation changed when Marcus ended up in different bands and performed regulary in the LA area and got to record with some bands. „It was Franki Baaz´s band that got my career really running. We played at the famous Canter´s in North Hollywood a few times and we recorded the album Passion Blue which was produced by Grayson Wray. Franki hit radio airplay charts in Australia which definetly got me somewhere“.

Over the years Marcus´s drumming appeared on numerous of albums including Darkseed´s „Astral Adventures“ and the single „Save Me“ by the british punk rock band The Disc Brakes which supported a Mini campaign that won gold at the London International Awards. Marcus also recorded with G.E.R.M, an L.A. based Funk project delivering music for TV trailers (incl. „House“ and „Monk“).

TV appearances include Melissa Etheridge, Chris De Burgh, Ronan Keating and Juanes. Marcus Boeltz received the Best Drummer Award 2006 in Germany. Best known for his tight, punching and straight ahead grooves, the „blue collar working drummer“ is currently producing his first solo album featuring Michael Landau, Rufus Philpot (Planet X, Randy Brecker), Philip Bynoe (Steve Vai) and Randy Hill (Pointer Sisters, Stephen Stills) among many other guest musicians.
